Dr. Sara Cardoso

Research

As a bioinformatics post-doc researcher, I focus on analysing spatial transcriptomics data (Xenium in Situ and GeoMx) from the tumour microenvironment of sarcomas. Other techniques I analyse include: DNA methylation, bulk RNAseq, single-cell RNAseq, and whole-exome sequencing (WES).

CV

I finished my bachelor course “Cell and Molecular Biology” in 2015 at the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT/UNL), Portugal. My interest in programming lead me to do a master program in bioinformatics at the university of Minho, Portugal, finished in 2017. With a grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, I completed my PhD program in Biomedical Engineering in 2023, where I developed genome-scale metabolic models for T-cell subtypes in the colorectal cancer environment. In 2022, I joined the groups of Noel de Miranda and Judith Bovée as a post-doc in bioinformatics.
